ENRICHING LIVES THROUGHOUT HAMPTON ROADS & BEYOND
We are more committed than ever to expanding. Tutoring 16 students in 2007 to impacting over 15,000 children in 2020 is an ambitious goal. So we buckle up, work hard, and expect more doors to open.
In 2007, LEC received a special assignment to make sure children could read proficiently by the end of the third grade. The majority of our students grow up in impoverished neighborhoods, but they have limitless potential and big hearts that crave the love and attention extended by our tutors.
The initial goal was to serve 20-30 students in a few schools in Norfolk. However, the vision grew, and we mobilize more volunteers to join our literacy enrichment crusade. We realize there are mountains that we must climb in our advance, but as we are good stewards of the work assigned to us, lives will be changed for the better as children, one by one, become proficient readers and get in touch with their gifts, dreams, and future possibilities.
